Supervisory Olfactory Cell Biologist

Qualifications

  • Relevant Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience.
  • Knowledge of GPCR signaling and membrane protein purification.
  • Experience in protein expression, purification, and biochemical analysis.
  • Knowledge of expression systems for membrane protein production.
  • Expertise in assay development, protein conjugation, and multifactorial optimization to design and develop immunoassays.
  • Excellent written and oral English proficiency.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Identify problems, communicate them to the team, and develop solutions.
  • Great attention to detail and great organizational skills.
  • Excellent note taking and data organization.
  • Must be proactive with regard to lab safety and doing sustainable science.
  • Experience with SMALPs or other artificial vesicles a plus.
  • Experience in drug discovery useful.

Responsibilities

  • The individual will work with our TruePath receptor platform - proprietary cell lines, cellular assays, liquid handling robots, chemosensory and ectopic receptors - to test ligands of interest against wide range of receptors, determine EC50s etc.  Potentially design experiments to explore relation between receptor activity and desired physiological changes, such as release of GLP-1, GIP, serotonin and other neurotransmitters.
  • The individual will also provide general project management, supervise and grow junior scientific staff, use excellent communication skills and track progress.
  • This will grow into a mostly supervisory position to guide teams through challenging experimental procedures.
